how to print labels in openoffice writer

For one, the printer is printing the labels almost like they are bunched up too high, because the further down the label rows you go, the higher the labels seem to print until they are printing right on the label above them, and soon they are not even aligned at all and are half on one row of labels and half on another. They DO NOT match the actual layout of the Avery label sheet. However, whenever I print these labels, the labels are way off. This matches the format at first glance of what I want to do. It's easy enough to select from the menu which type of template I want to use: Avery 5160. It's common sense to go to File->New->Labels and bring up the label making GUI. These are the 1' x 2-5/8' labels, with 30 labels per sheet (3 columns of 10 rows of labels).

I bought a pack of Avery Address Labels, the 48860 kind, which uses the Avery Template 5160. I thought this would be a very easy thing to figure out, since the settings to do labels are built right into the software. I am running Ubuntu 64-bit 10.10 and 3.2.
